Flagstaff Lodge & Day Spa, Boutique Hotel Russell
Flagstaff Lodge & Day Spa is a 1912 villa providing boutique accommodation. With a maximum of eight people staying at any one time, guests are assured personal attention and privacy.
The lodge offers four spacious ensuite rooms, each with their own unique theme, an elegant guest lounge, a courtyard, established gardens and a private spa offering massage and relaxation.
The entire lodge is available for group bookings.
Although fully restored and offering every modern convenience, Flagstaff Lodge & Day Spa is steeped in history. The lodge is named after a famous 1845 incident in which Maori chief Hone Heke Pokai cut down the British flagstaff. Following the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, Hone Heke became disenchanted by what he felt to be Government oppression toward Maori. The attack on the flagstaff provoked the Flagstaff War.
